Hello. My name is Alanna Halloran. On October 5, I’ll be lacing up my shoes and running the Twin Cities Marathon – all 26.2 miles – to raise money for research leading to a treatment and cure for Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2). And I’d love your support! Why this cause? It’s deeply personal because my twin sister Lizzie and I live with the debilitating effects of NF2. This rare genetic disorder causes tumors on nerves in the brain, spine, and beyond. Over the past 10 years, we’ve undergone more surgeries and treatments than I can count. My twin, Lizzie, can’t run this marathon with me due to NF2 complications; she had a tumor removed from her spine at age 12, which has affected her mobility. So I will be running for both of us and for everyone battling NF2. Momentum is on our side, a cure is within reach.
All donations go to NF2 BioSolutions, a nonprofit organization led by scientists, doctors, and patient families, which funds the most promising breakthroughs in treatments. Every dollar donated is spent on research.
Here’s the best part: every donation is being matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor, up to $10,000. Your $52.40 (2 dollars a mile) donation becomes $104.8. Your $100 becomes $200 - Twice the impact, mile for mile!
I’ve been training and will take care of the 26.2 miles on marathon day. Will you help by donating to get us one step closer to a cure?
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Alanna Halloran
