Halifax needs a gay bar again
Hello! Meet Ian MacLeod and Nick Close.
We eat, live and breathe Halifax. We are also here as part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community who do not have a place to call their own in this city. With a population of nearly 450,000 and a province of nearly 1,000,000 people, we are desperate for a space to call ours, a place that is fully queer owned and operated and a place we can be ourselves and service the community in a real and positive way. We are proposing a plan for a 3300sq/ft lounge/bar/nightclub and event space open late 2021/early 2022 in the heart of Downtown Halifax. We have secured a location and are ready to make this happen!
The concept will be elevated but accessible for everyone’s pocketbook, with the idea to have this as a destination for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It will be a versatile, accessible space that can host a wide range of events like drag shows, open mics, karaoke, trivia, live music, Pride events and dancing as well as have a lounge space for cocktails and food. We believe that this project will offer quality in a clean, modern, and inclusive environment, and a welcomed addition to our growing city - specifically the downtown core.
