Earlier this month, our cousin Dawid, had a terrible accident caused by anaphylaxis . On behalf of Dawid, his wife, and son, we ask for your help to raise funds for a brain injury rehabilitation program. Thank you in advance for your help and prayers.
A translated note from David's wife, Magdalena:
"It's hard to find words to describe what happened to my family on September 1st. I received the terrible news that an ambulance took my husband to the hospital. Upon arrival, I found out that the cause was most likely an insect sting that caused Dawid to go into anaphylactic shock. Then I felt as if the ground had slipped from under my feet. It turned out that due to hypoxia, the brain was also swollen. For the next 17 days the husband was unconscious and a respirator was breathing for him.
On September 18, after another CT scan of the head, we received information that the swelling of the brain had significantly decreased and the doctors started the process of awakening David from a pharmacologically induced coma. My husband, however, did not regain consciousness. This news was for me and my 6-year-old son a blow to the heart. Each moment became for us a fight for the return of our loving husband and dad to health. I wish the reality that changed our lives so suddenly was just a nightmare from which we will wake up from soon.
After the last consultation we had with the head of the intensive care unit where Dawid is now, I received information that my husband's condition requires immediate rehabilitation. I found a rehabilitation center, but I have to pay for the stay entirely out of my own pocket. Any help will be immense to get the treatment for Dawid that is crucially needed."

Trudno znaleźć słowa na opisanie dramatu, który spotkał moją rodzinę 1 września. Otrzymałam straszliwą wiadomość o tym, że karetka zabrała mojego męża do szpitala. Po dotarciu na miejsce dowiedziałam się, że przyczyną było najprawdopodobniej użądlenie przez owada, które spowodowało u Dawida wstrząs anafilaktyczny. Poczułam się wtedy, tak jakby ziemia osunęła mi się spod nóg. Okazało się, że ze względu na niedotlenienie doszło także do obrzęku mózgu. Przez kolejnych 17 dni mąż był nieprzytomny i oddychał za niego respirator.
18 września po ponownym badaniu TK głowy otrzymaliśmy informację, że obrzęk mózgowia znacznie się zmniejszył i lekarze, jeszcze tego samego dnia, rozpoczęli proces wybudzania Dawida ze śpiączki farmakologicznej. Mąż nie odzyskał jednak świadomości. Wiadomość ta była dla mnie i 6-letniego synka ciosem prosto w serce. Każda chwila stała się dla nas walką o powrót kochającego męża i taty do zdrowia. Chciałabym, aby rzeczywistość, która tak nagle zmieniła nasze życie, była jedynie koszmarnym snem, z którego wkrótce się obudzimy.
Po ostatniej konsultacji z ordynatorem oddziału intensywnej terapii, na której przebywa Dawid, otrzymałam informację, że stan męża wymaga natychmiastowej rehabilitacji. Znalazłam dla męża ośrodek rehabilitacyjny, ale za pobyt muszę zapłacić w całości z własnej kieszeni. Musimy działać szybko! Każda pomoc jest dla nas olbrzymią szansą na przywrócenie Dawidowi zdrowia. Wierzymy, że Wasze wsparcie podtrzyma tlącą się w naszych sercach nadzieję. -Magdalena
