Half-Marathon for Heatons Cats

On Sunday 12th October, I’ll be taking on a half-marathon to raise money for Heatons Cats, a small but mighty rescue and rehoming charity that’s very close to my heart.

I’m proud to work at Heatons Cats, where I see every day just how much care and dedication goes into giving cats a second chance. Many of the cats who come through our doors have had a tough start in life, and the charity relies entirely on donations to cover essentials like food, medical care and keeping the shelter running.

It’s been a really tough few months for us. Our charity shop is still closed for major refurbishments (which turned out to be much more than expected), we’ve had to cover extra medication after a minor infection, and just last week one of our kittens needed emergency vet care. All of these unexpected costs have put a huge strain on already limited funds.

We do everything we can to raise money, from car boot sales at the crack of dawn to selling clothes online, but without the shop open, it just isn’t enough. The small team of ladies I work with dedicate their lives to making sure unwanted cats are safe, healthy, and rehomed with love. Sometimes that even means working through the night to make sure the animals are okay.

This half-marathon is no small thing for me (especially after picking up knee issues during my last 10k run!), but it feels worth it to push through for a cause I care about so deeply.
