Layoffs from Half Price Books Relief Fund

Donation protected
On April 2, 2020, Half Price Books laid off or furloughed over 2000 employees, without warning. In the midst of an unprecedented global crisis, we were suddenly left without health insurance, income, or support. In the following weeks, Half Price Books has treated us with shocking disregard- ignoring the layoffs on all social media, disregarding requests for more information including the criteria for termination, and providing misinformation about the ending of benefits.

Many of the people laid off had given decades of loyalty and passion to Half Price Books. Many of us were fervent defenders of the company right to the end. We worked for this company because we believed in the job, because we love books, and because we thought that Half Price Books cared about us.

The purpose of this fund is to do what Half Price Books refused to do. Funds will be distributed to laid off employees upon application for aid. From helping with the weekly grocery shopping to paying rent or medical bills, this fund is a mutual aid resource. We will take care of our own, and we thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Please fill out our form at https://forms.gle/6ssru3gGgnhRfNR58 to help us determine how to fairly distribute funds.
