Half Marathon in memory of Grace O'Malley Kumar

On 5th May, myself, Anna, and Kara will be running the Birmingham Great Run in memory of our friend, Grace O'Malley Kumar, who tragically lost her life in June.

Grace and I first crossed paths at preseason uni hockey in 2022, where we instantly became friends. We always had a laugh together, from getting shots on the balcony to dancing around in vinyl, she would always go out her way to be kind to me. Whilst i only knew her a year and I was only privileged to play on the hockey pitch with her a handful of times, those times will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope in completing this half marathon she will be proud, smiling down at us with that gorgeous smile - Kara x

I first met Grace when she joined Southgate when we were 16. For as long as I knew Grace, her kindness was paramount and she never failed to make an effort to include everyone. Not only was she an incredibly talented player, she was also an amazing individual who never failed to light up the room with her smile. Grace had so much love to give and the warmth in her heart was so evident to anyone who knew her. I will always hold the time I spent with Grace, and the memories we shared close to my heart - Freya x

Grace was a great friend of mine since I met her when I was 14 at NAGS. Her constant positive attitude and smile bonded us from the beginning and we shared some of my fondest memories. When I then found out she was joining me in notts I was excited to rekindle our friendship and seeing her name on the list for preseason made me instantly less nervous going into uni. My fondest memory of Grace was the day we had a fresher scavenger hunt and she was running around notts in a Greggs outfit and later arrived to training in the same outfit, she never failed at making us all laugh - Anna x

We wanted to complete this challenge to honour Grace and raise both money and awareness, to keep Grace's legacy alive.
