On the 7th of February I’m going to be running the Exeter half marathon to raise money for the people of Gaza who are suffering immensely. The money raised will be donated to the British Red Cross. The British Red Cross are directly helping the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) who have been supporting the people of Gaza including distributing aid since 2023, despite the difficulties that have come with restrictions on aid delivery. They have delivered over 1.6 million emergency relief items including food packages, tents and blankets.

The PRCS are still able to deliver aid in Gaza, which makes it even more vital that they are supported as much as possible. As Winter progresses, the people of Gaza have to face ongoing catastrophic conditions, with 1.3 million people needing emergency shelter. These innocent people are in desperate need of aid. Following the widespread famine in August, the whole of Gaza is currently facing acute food insecurity with more than 1.4 million people facing extreme hunger. This is catastrophic and a significant increase of humanitarian aid is needed urgently.

All donations will be going to the British Red Cross (Gaza Crisis appeal). Through this, the British Red Cross are supporting the PRCS who are working consistently (with the resources they have) to support people in Gaza. They currently have 1,400 active responders in Gaza who are providing emergency support. For example, they have distributed over 15,000 tents, 14 million litres of bottled water (along with hygiene and dignity kits) and have reached around 491,000 people providing mental health and psychological support.
