We are Harriet and Beatrice and in May 2026 we will be running the Birmingham half marathon/ 10K in memory of our amazing mum, Natasha "Tash" Batstone. There is a group of around forty people including family, friends and colleagues of our mum, running either the half marathon or the 10K.

Sadly, we lost our mum in December 2024 due to a sudden, short-term illness. She was a huge character who lit up every room she walked in and was loved by so many. She was our best friend and we did everything together. We look up to her as our inspiration and role model so we wish to make her proud by running and raising money for charity.

The reason we have chosen to raise money for the British Red Cross is because it was a charity close to mum's heart as she donated to it monthly. They are a charity that helps people in a crisis for example, those that face conflict and natural disasters, by providing food, water, shelters and clothing and much more.

One of her passions was helping others which she achieved throughout her career in the police, helping those at the lowest points of their lives and ensuring justice was given to victims and their families. Mum loved her job and being apart of the Leicestershire police family which is why we are raising the other half of the money for their new memorial garden. This will be a place to remember fellow colleagues who have sadly passed away.
