Half Marathon for lee John brace by Strolling Saxon
Donation protected
The Strolling Saxon will attempt to walk a 1/2 Marathon wearing 30kgs of Armour and equipment (no weapons) around the city of Portsmouth on the 6th July 2025 in Aid of Lee John Brace, this is his story.....
November 25th 2024 Lee fell ill whilst doing gardening.
He was experiencing chest & back pain, couldn't move his right leg.
He ended up at A & E QA hospital Portsmouth and diagnosed with type A aorta dissection. This is a life threatening condition.
He was transferred to Soton General & and underwent 16hrs of surgery.
He spent 2 months in hospital and suffered some post operation complications one being left sided vocal cord palsy ( he can't talk) and residual type B dissection.
Consequently this has turned his life up side down. He is reliant on his partner Margaret is Lee voice and he can no longer be a professional driver as he was a bus driver in Portsmouth.
This has had a huge impact on their life's.
They say this condition not many people make it to hospital in time, known as ' a silent killer' he was told he had un diagnosed high blood pressure which caused this.
Life is so precious no body knows what's around the corner life can change so quickly as it did also for the Strolling Saxon in December 2023,
After being in a serious RTC, leaving him with a fractured spine and nerve damage to the whole of the left side of his body. He was told he would NEVER WALK AGAIN
This was a life that he was not prepared to except and with a self driven stubborn dogged determination, he has rebuilt his life, LEARNING TO WALK and carry on living a as "normal as possible" life.
With that he attempts to walk "for others less fortunate than himself" and to bring a unique awareness to causes, carrying 30kgs of armour and kit - something even "normal" people struggle with, let alone with a "unbalanced spine"
...and one day he knows there maybe become a time when he can't do this anymore...but until that day ...he will walk ..in pain for others.
If you can see it in your heart to give however little, please do so. It really will help Lee John Brace and his family, who have said that a donation to the condition that Lee has, they will make a separate donation to as well, so your supporting others as well, the Strolling Saxon gets nothing from this but perhaps your smiles as he passes you, or the beeps from cars.
I thank you so much for your kindness in reading this and supporting me the strolling Saxon.
