I'm running for my angel baby Whit and all of the moms and dads who have experienced infant loss, miscarriage, or stillbirth. It has been Infant Loss Awareness this whole month of October and every year that it comes and goes, I always wish I had done something in memory of our first born son, Whitaker James. It was in 2012 when I delivered him 12 weeks early. We lost him tragically to necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) after thriving in the NICU for two weeks. It was an unimaginable loss, but it was a loss that made us stronger and better parents to the two miracles we have now. I want to help raise awareness to something that happens more often than we know and is not talked about enough. So I've decided to add purpose to my run by raising money for the March of Dimes. My goal is to raise $1000 by November 6th when I run in the Savannah Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon. So I've got a week! This money will go to help babies survive and thrive, help families in NICUs, and help bring knowledge and technology to fight for our tiniest babies and their moms.
