Haley's School Fund

Haley was diagnosed with high functioning autism at the age of 2.  I had no idea at the time the journey we were set to have.  It was the beginning of many years of psychiatrists, speech therapists, neurologists, therapists, medication and special education through the public school.  Beginning in the fourth grade we began to experience difficulty at school because the school system decided because she was high functioning and was progressing so well, she no longer needed any additional support.  After all of the years we had spent to build her up, so began our downward spiral.  Because of severe anxiety and failing grades (even though she had tested on the genius level), we were forced to withdraw from public schools and we transferred to a private school.  That proved to be no different.  So, in 7th grade we began homeschooling.  Although it alleviated her anxiety, we weren’t getting the education that she deserved and she was isolated. 

Through an extensive search, I have found the Temple Grandin School in Boulder Colorado.  I truly believe this is Haley’s only shot to have a place where she is understood and to challenge her in a way that she can meet her full potential.  Given the fact that she has tested with an intelligence level that is so high, I believe she can go far…..!  Her dream is to one day go to college.  One of our main obstacles is the school is $30,000 a year.
