Haleigh’s Assault & Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My sister (Haleigh) and family have suffered significant financial loss related to medical expenses and could use a lot of help. If you’re able, we would greatly appreciate anything and everything.
On 3/17/2023, Haleigh was at a country bar line dancing. A man picked her up and attempted to dance with her against her wishes. He dropped her on her right hip resulting in a labral tear. Within 2 months, the pain she felt in her hip was so severe she became dependent on a wheelchair.
It turns out, Haleigh has a common, genetic condition called Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS). Many people have hEDS and don’t know it, just like Haleigh. One of its main symptoms is joint pain and instability. In general, her ligaments are like rubber instead of rope. They stretch, but have a hard time snapping back. Due to this, her labral tear causes more pain than on someone without hEDS.
She has seen dozens of doctors and has been receiving constant physical therapy. She’s making progress, but it is very slow. It could be years before Haleigh is physically recovered from this assault, if ever fully recovered. The hope is that this will be temporary, but as of right now, we don’t know what the future holds.
