Picture in your mind seeing your loved one struggle with a life threatening disease while struggling to make ends meet. Imagine dropping what you were doing at that moment to rush and help them up from the floor because their pain was too overwhelming or getting a call that they are admitted into the hospital. These are just a few things that I have witnessed and done for my best friend ,Autumn (Vince), in the past year and 5 months. Today, Autumn’s disease has gotten worse and is causing more complications.
Autumn has been battling sickle cell anemia since he was young. In addition to his sickle cell anemia, Autumn was diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia) over a year ago after he was experiencing a piercing pain in his upper left leg that caused him to lose consciousness for a couple of hours. With the devastating news, he had to move quickly. Without insurance, he is unable to get proper treatment. During Autumn’s last doctor’s visit, scans have showed that his spleen is 3 times the normal size! Causing pain in his abdomen. Medical bills, medications, rent, utilities and car payments have left Autumn in debt; adding more worry on his shoulders. This GoFundMe was created in hopes to help Autumn sustain his current living arrangements, help pay for his medications, doctors visits and hospital bills until we can figure out a way to get him proper insurance.
Autumn is a father. He is the oldest of his siblings. He comes from a loving and devoted family. We’d all love to see him beat this disease! To many individuals Autumn is known as a protector, a mentor, and a good friend. While dealing with his own disease and pain, he continues to be there for the people he cares about. I can attest to this because while I was dealing with a whole new environment moving away from my home and my kidney failure, Autumn was there for me. He went as far as trying to be my living kidney donor. He was saddened at the fact that he couldn’t be a donor for me. He is always the one to come up with the plan and solutions to the problems. To see someone as strong and as passionate as he is struggle and unable to get proper medical treatment or live comfortably due to financial issues just blows me away. I know times are tough right now due to the pandemic, but we kindly ask for whatever you can give at this time. It will be greatly appreciated!
Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you so much!
