Hal Nunn's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Hal is a single man that has lived in Colorado Springs for the last 50 years. He is a loving father and grandfather and spends most weekends with his daughters and close friends. Hal is always willing to drop his own needs and priorities to help his friends and family with fixing cars or completing projects around their houses. Hal has also been a stable support for teachers at a local elementary school (Otero Elementary School). He not only fixes cars and changes oil, he is also eager to help hang and fix things in their classrooms.
Hal has worked since the age of 16 as a mechanic in the automotive field. His hard work, great attendance, and ability to teach and train others has lead to a position as a shop manager. His employees and coworkers value his daily contributions and the supports he has given to all of the people he works with.
On Sept 3rd, 2019 Hal suffered a stroke that impacted the right side of his body, speech, as well as his ability to walk without support. With this sudden and unexpected event, Hal is unable to take care of his basic needs, to include working to support himself. Hal is a determined man and is committed to recovery and rehabilitation, as he has already made progress with supports from speech therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists. Hal’s children are also committed to his recovery and plan to be integral participants in ensuring rehabilitation and recovery plans are followed and up kept. With the hospital visits, follow up visits, medications, and rehabilitation services, we are requesting support with funding of these services, as medical bills will be insurmountable for Hal and his family.
