Hal Baum's Medical Expenses

Hi everyone. I am reaching out to whoever will listen to introduce my grandpa, Hal Baum, in an effort to support him in the most difficult time of his life. My grandpa Hal often enjoys cooking, golfing, being an active member in his bible study group, and even bartending. On top of all his hobbies, however, Hal is most importantly a loving husband, a supportive father, and an amazing grandfather to his 10 grandkids.  

Unfortunately, my grandpa has not been able to do all of the activities he loves and be the person he wants to be for his family due to the health issues he has been suffering from.


 Within the past year my grandpa has spent numerous months of suffering after being hospitalized at least six times. These frequent hospital visits are due to his diagnosis of  (AL) Amyloidosis. This is a rare disease that is caused when the abnormal protein builds up in a person's organs and prevents them from functioning the way they are supposed to and it led to severe heart failure. This disease makes it difficult for my grandpa to maintain an average weight, breathe normally, and causes major effects on his heart. My grandpa is always in pain and has become extremely weak. As a result of this disease my grandpa now needs a heart transplant as soon as possible. He is extremely hardworking but with this disease taking over his health, he is no longer in the condition to work. With his previous medical costs being as high as they are and the cost of the future transplant, my family and I are finding ourselves with no other option but to ask for help. 


 Any donations would be going to his previous medical bills and the future transplant we are desperately trying to provide for him. Hopefully, with the help of whoever is willing, we can provide for my grandpa the same way he has provided for us our entire life. This is something that means so much to me because my grandpa deserves to have the life he loves back in reach and it would break my heart if the costs of medical care were hindering his chances. Anyone that takes the time to donate, share or even read my grandpa’s story has helped more than they could possibly know and I thank you a million times for considering my grandpa in a time where we are all struggling.
