We are Dania and Dima, cousins by blood, best friends by choice. Though we live in the same building in Ramallah, separated only by a staircase, our daily experiences of the city have been profoundly different. Dania is from Jerusalem and carries a blue ID, while Dima is from Jenin with a green ID. Both of us have spent most of our lives in Ramallah, navigating the contradictions, struggles, and resilience that come with it.

Together, we decided to transform our stories into something tangible: a board game that reflects Ramallah’s reality on a physical level. “Haki w Hitan” is a living archive of Palestine, a space where collective memory, politics, and society converge.

Under the slogan “Reclaim the Streets!”, the game empowers players to strategize, plan, and make decisions, only to discover that, just like in real life, control is often an illusion. The occupation interferes in the smallest details, mirrored in the gameplay through red “chaos cards” that disrupt even the best-laid plans.

Every character in the game is inspired by real people from Ramallah’s diverse social classes, each carrying their own strengths and struggles. The ultimate goal: to occupy zones of the city (Areas A, B, and C) just as they exist in reality, marked in blue, green, and purple. “Haki w Hitan” is a way to experience Ramallah’s daily life through strategy, humor, frustration, and hope. It’s meant for all generations and communities, locally and globally.

The game has been play tested with the community. We’ve gathered feedback, listened closely, and adjusted the rules, mechanics, and balance. For now, our focus is on securing grants and funding to produce high-quality prototypes, test materials, and move toward full-scale production and distribution. Help us bring this vision to life.
