Hakeem's Dream & Doing Well Foundation

My name is Donovan Jones. Over the course of 5 years, I have had the pleasure of being Hakeem's manager, videographer, and business partner. We met in 2017, during my senior year of college and we instantly became the best of friends. In the short time that I knew Hakeem, it didn’t take long to figure out that he was an immensely talented artist, with much to say.

Months later, we decided to go into business together on a record label; forming a LLC from scratch, we invested in studio time, taped music videos, and conducted photoshoots for his upcoming releases. As his manager, I sent his first single “Too Late” to local radio stations around the DC, MD, VA area and it ended up being chosen for a radio competition, with the top hip-hop channel in the DMV, called KYS Versus on 93.9. We ended up winning the competition and getting an interview at the radio station which can be viewed here: HERE
After his success on the radio, Hakeem became laser-focused on changing the world with his lyrics and entrepreneurial vision. He had dreams of creating a non-profit to facilitate building a school and wells within his family’s home village in Sierra Leone, educating our marginalized youth here in the United States, and creating a community in which love and resources were abundant.
Fast forward to January 2022, Hakeem purchased a plot of land in Sierra Leone and went there to begin development of his farm. Shortly upon his arrival, Hakeem recognized the struggle to find and use clean water around the village. With his passion and resilience, he went on to create a non-profit called “Doing Well”, alongside his business partner Joey, to build reliable water sources and increase the standard of living in surrounding areas. Furthermore, he and his mother worked day and night to build a house and school for their community. Over the course of 4 short months, Hakeem traveled to several Sierra Leonean villages, helped build a well and school, handmade bricks for his mother’s home, and formed a plethora of connections.
Unfortunately, Hakeem didn’t live to see his vision come to full fruition, passing away four days after he and Joey received their 501c3 status for a non-profit. At 26, Hakeem has accomplished more than many have in a lifetime; however his dreams have not come to an end. Now, I, along with Joey, the Still Advancing Daily LLC, his family, and closest friends, are dedicated to taking this project through to the finish line.
Additionally, he has an unfinished album with at least 30 unreleased tracks that need mixing and mastering. While we still want the world to hear his vision and carry out Hakeem’s wishes, it will require some financial resources to release his work properly.
If you knew Hakeem or even spoke to him, one could easily tell you that he was full of life. He equally appreciated the peaks and troughs and worked to be a better man every day. As his family, friends, and business partners, we know that the best way to honor Hakeem is to execute all that he has already set in motion.
In true Hakeem fashion, anything will be appreciated. His family and friends thank-you for any love or support!
We will use the donations for:
-Support for Hakeem’s Family
-Start-up costs for the Doing Well non-profit organization to support impoverished communities in Africa & around the world.
-Complete Unfinished Records/Tracks for release.
