It was with heavy hearts that we shared the passing of our beloved grandfather, Haji Abdur Rahman, last year. As his granddaughters, we – Aminah and Asiya – feel so deeply thankful for his courage, his sacrifices, and the kindness he showed to everyone around him. He was a true pillar of both our family and community, a patron of Bury Park Mosque for decades, and a pivotal figure who people often turned to for his wisdom and gentle guidance. His strength and determination have paved the way for the lives we are able to live today.

We pray that Allah (swt), the Most Merciful and Most Kind, forgives him, wraps him in His endless mercy, grants him a peaceful resting place, and raises him to the highest ranks of Jannatul Firdous. In his cherished memory, we are raising funds to build water wells in Bangladesh. In Islam, water wells are a beautiful and highly favoured form of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) that continue to bring blessings to those in need for years to come, and endless rewards to the soul of the departed.

As our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Charity does not decrease wealth.” Giving in charity only increases our blessings and brings barakah in this life and the next.
