Hello, I'm Melissa. I am trying to raise money to help with my 13 year old' medical expenses. Hailey is a kind, caring, sweet, and loving child. She puts her whole heart into everything she does. She is always there to give a smile or offer a helping hand.

In late 2022 Hailey's bathroom habits started changing. She started having a lot of blood loss. I took her to her primary who couldn't come to a conclusion. Hailey under went a lot of testing and they still didn't have a lot of answers. She was referred to a specialist who also did testing and everything kept coming back "within normal limits". I pushed for a colonoscopy which she had on April 12, 2023. It revealed she has Ulcerative Colitis.

Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). There are treatments available but there is currently no cure. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 30. Hailey was 12. This news has been hard on all of us especially Hailey. She also has anxiety so the unknown is hard for her. Hailey was doing great with her medicine but never went into remission. In October, we had to switch insurance companies and they denied Hailey's medicine. In January after a couple appeals, we found a coupon and paid out of pocket because Hailey had become so sick. A couple weeks ago it got to the put Hailey can no longer attend school. She has become anemic and received an iron transfusion on February 1st. Because the diarrhea and blood has been so extensive, Hailey's body is lacking the nutrients it needs. Her doctor moved her next colonoscopy up to February 6th where we received more devastating news. Hailey's disease has spread and her whole colon is "sick" only the small section that connects to the small intestine is healthy. Her medication we just paid for is no longer effective. She will now receive IV infusions. By the grace of God, things are moving quickly and she can receive her first remicade infusion next week. I will be taking Hailey back and forth to receive her infusions but in my truck, it's an expense that we unfortunately are going to struggle with. I normally don't ask for help like this but my daughter getting better is my priority. All money will go towards gas and other medical expenses. I appreciate all who have taken time to read this.
