WHAT: An amazing opportunity to train with Man City at their training facility, with their academy coaches, in Manchester, England

WHEN: June 2023

WHERE: From Idaho to Manchester

HOW: By raising funds! We need $4,000 per player to get there.

We just received an anonymous challenge grant that will match the first $25,000 we raise with an additional $25,000.

Financial philosophy of the Hailey FC Lightning:

Our soccer program costs $199 per player for the entire year and we raise money for all of our team expenses, including uniforms, tournaments, league fees etc. By doing this we have a great mix of families and no one is left out because of financial reasons. It also avoids having a two-class system of “scholarship kids” and those who pay full price. Five years ago I was at a tournament run by a larger club. I was talking with some of the parents and congratulating them on how they all were helping out and how well the tournament was run. Then one of the parents said, “Oh, we just make all the scholarship kids do all that.” Right there I was determined to never have that happen on our team. So we are $199 per year for every player on our team. If someone can’t afford that, they can talk to me individually and we’ll work that out. If anyone wants to anonymously donate funds to cover team expenses, those are accepted. All donations are tax-deductible and go 100% to the program.

Recent Successes of the Hailey FC Lightning:

We had a great season last year finishing with the 3rd most points in Idaho.

In the Idaho State Cup, we were 1-1-1 only losing to the #1 team and tying the #2 team. We qualified for the Far West Presidents Cup in Phoenix, Arizona, which is a USYS regional/national invitation-only tournament and made it to the semifinals. We beat the #2 team from Montana and the #2 team from Arizona. Most teams in the tournament were ranked #2 or #3 in their state. Everyone kept asking us, “Where is Hailey?”

So that brings us to the present. Training with Man City is an amazing opportunity for our players. It’s crazy that this opportunity even exists for us, but it does. As far as I know, there has never been a team from Idaho that has trained with Man City. We did the impossible and got an invitation to do this. Now, to be able to travel to England as a team, we need to raise $4,000 per player.
