I am going to let Hailey tell her own story:
Hi everyone....My name is Hailey Jesso......I was your typicial normal teen girl... till August 20th 2016.......
It all started out with tummy pains and constant nausea.....my mom got tired of doctors saying I just had a tummy flu.... to take gravol and drink plenty of liquids....On August 20th mom brought me to Salmon Arm General hospital, with to sympthoms,, nausea and stomach pain....after what seemed like for ever in emergency....doc was puzzled because I didn't have a fever to go along with the other sympthoms. so Doc said we had two choices treat it like a tummy flu like other doctors or agree to a CT Scan... me and mom talked about it and said what do we have to lose with a scan being done....might show us what is really going on....or it could be the appendix but not all sympthoms surfaced.....So at 11;30 pm that night I had the first of many scans.....When doctor came in and went over my scans....their was a couple of erigularties... instead of me only having one line going to each kidney like a normal person does... I had to lines coming from both kidneys...that connected to my bladder... well three lines connected to my bladder and one just above my ureatha..... on top of this, I also had a cyspt on my left ovarie. and most of my left kidney was dead.....what surprised the doctor was I am a 14 yr old girl who has lived with this condition sense birth and didn't even know or have I had many complications with it till now....
So Salmon arm General sent me to Veron General to be admitted, so a kidney speacialist could treat me....kidney specialist prepped me for my first of three surgeries......in this surgery he put a stint in to releave the pressure of the kidney on the bladder....was realeased three days later on pain meds and something for nausea....the stint was put in till they could fit me in to have most of my kidney removed......
Once I got home pain and nausea meds were working for awhile,, then it got to the point my mom had me in chase ER everyday for a week. to be hooked up on IV fluids and pain meds....One evening pain was getting so severe...mom called 911 to rush me in to nearest hospital......Hospital in route that night was Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops....The docs went over my file and made sure I was out of pain so they could sorta figure out what was happening....They decided to admit me and assign a peadatration .... Pedatrition came in and he figured it wasn't the kidney that was the problem and was more concerned about the cyspt on my left ovarie...so we had a doc from gynocolgy come up and talk to us about surgurie to have the cyspt removed...Went in had cyspt removed.....few days passed by still had the same tummy pain and nausea.....so Kamloops docs couldn't figure it out after many xrays and scans. decided to ship me of to B.C Chrildrens Hospital.....Just like all the other hospitals they made sure I was comfortable meds for pain and nausea... I was assigned a doc from the urolgy ward... and he said he is pretty certain that it was the left kidney that was causing the pain......Now was the time to set a surgery date for next few days do to the fact I needed to get it done asap......surgery was done at 11pm at night.....went well with no complications......brought me back up to my room. so my mom could care for me.......then it started at 12am the constant vomiting...I was hooked up to five different machines heart IV, BP machine, epidurial to keep me frozen from chest down etc....the nurse finally got a doctor to come in and see what the issue was... culprit ended up being the epidurial which is pretty much same as morphine which they have had me on for almost a month. was now making me sick.....after everything was figured out they discharged me with morphine, tyenol 3 and advil and ibprofrine in between if my pain peaked.. with high anti nauseas do to they fact gravol was making me sicker... so me and mom checked in to the Ronald Mcdonald house in Vancouver close to the hospital... was just setteling in to sleep for the night when I woke mom up and said the pain is the same so is the nausea... my mom litterially picked me up and ran me all the ways back to BC Chrildrens... My mom is a force to be recond with... she walked in the ER and said she wanted a doctor now and she wasn't waiting to see one.... About a hours wait doctor had me pretty well druged up to keep me out as much pain as possible.....first thing he did was send me for a xray to check on my liver do to the fact they prescribed a large amount of tyenol and morphine... I could have over dosed.....thank goodness xrays came out clear......Doc in BC Chrildrens decided to send me to get a ultrasound done to look around and see what they could be missing, due to the fact I was still having the same sympthoms as I went in with on August 12.....Ultasound came back I had a blockage in between my upper and lower intestine that they had to unblock.....so I was admitted back in BC Chrildrens again...things were starting to look up.. of the five machines I was hooked up to I was finally down to one my trusty IV pole....Morning nurse came in and gave me my meds now orally... I took my meds that morning and 20 mins later I was hooked back to all five machines real quick again.. I could no longer move from the waist down or or sit up in bed on my own... my morning nurse came in and mom asked was their anything different that I was given that am then last few mornings.. she said she threw in a stool softner....my mom came unglued and made sure that every nurse and doc that came in after that told her what they were giving me and what for....If it wasn't for my mom being with me every step of the way I know deep in my heart I would have probably died...I am back at home now slowly recovering from my surgeries... being home schooled till Feburary....In this two month ordeal my mom has missed all this time at work to be with me...She said she rather lose everything in life then lose one of her children.....and she was were she wanted and needed to be with me....So shes two months behind in all her bills, works three part time jobs just to pay major bills every month.. shes had to borrow money from family and friends... its so bad, she will go four to five days without eating to make sure we have food in our mouths to eat.....I know she has a lot of stress and worry on her plate, due to her having her hours cut at two part time jobs and bills and Christmas right around the corner....I am asking for help for my mom so she can pay off the debt she owes and I would like to see her not have to worry about Christmas or food this holiday season..i have seen her push her pride aside and go to the food bank, and cry at night in her room because she don't know how shes gonna do it, but the next day she always gets up with a positive attutide and goes off to work... my mom will forever be my hero for being their when I needed her the most... so please help me help her as a thank you for all she does and continues to do. thank you for your time
