UPDATE : 11/8/2023
It is with a heavy heart we must inform that our dear friend Hai has taken his last and final breath on 11/06/2023.
He was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma cancer. Despite the battles he recently faced Hai fought to the very end and is now finally able to rest. He stayed true to form and fought valiantly to his last breath. Through out everything, he took all the dread with positive strides and always held his head high. He always found the light in his darkest hours. He will be truly missed and his memory will live on through all the people he has touched.
Hai was an amazing teacher and fishing guide. He lived to share his love for fishing, nature and anything outdoors. He always took pride in showing that love to others. In tribute to Hai, we encourage anyone to post a photo of their personal best catch and/or a fond memory of Hai at his best!
Below is one of Hai’s last posts on his Go Fund Me page. He never quit and his memory will live on forever in all of us.
“I am not a religious man, but I have faith in you guys, the fishing community, with friends and family alike. I wasn't aware of all the love and support that I would receive. That was truly overwhelming for a guy like me to see. I know I can get through all of this with your continued love and support. Nothing can stop me, but my last breath. I love you guys from the bottom of my heart. And, if this is my last post or update... I know it's not my last. I still have too much work to do here and so much fish to catch still. But, if it is my last update... know that I never quit.”

UPDATE: 10/30/2023
Hai is still in the hospital since his most recent surgery (Kidney, Adrenal and partial diaphragm removal). Doctors are saying that he has a type of Sarcoma. He has also been receiving blood transfusions daily to keep up with his low hemoglobin. The main focus right now is to get his hemoglobin stable, then figure out treatment for the Sarcoma. He remains in high sprits and continues to be a strong fighter. He appreciates all the love and support that he has continued to receive. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Will continue to update as new information comes in. As Hai always says "Nothing can stop me, but my last breath..."
UPDATE: 5/4/2023
Hai had a surgery on Sunday to remove a large mass in his brain. Doctors have taken a biopsy and should have results in a few days. He is doing better and in good spirits. They have also started physical therapy and he hopes to regain function of his arm and leg eventually. Hai still has a long road to recovery and is grateful for all the love and support he has received. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. And if possible, please consider donating to his GoFundMe Page to assist with medical bills and his inability to do what he loves the most, guiding and fishing.

Hi, my name is Jose and Im organizing this fundraiser to help out my good friend Hai. He has been on quite a roller coaster of events. Most recently he has been admitted to the hospital with stroke-like symptoms. He has lost the complete function of his right arm and leg. After undergoing multiple scans and tests, doctors discovered he has internal bleeding in the brain and adrenal gland. He is currently stable and the doctors are waiting for some of the blood to absorb to get a more clear picture of his next CT scan. We are all anxiously waiting for some answers and solutions for his recovery.
As you can imagine, the hospital bills are racking up and Hai's sole source of income relies on his guided fishing trips. This has come to an abrupt halt.
We are asking that you please keep Hai in your thoughts and prayers and please consider donating to this fund to help with his mounting bills and lack of work.
Thank you,
