Hadley Jade Bowman was born on November 23rd. It was shortly discovered that she has a condition called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and she was life flighted to the NICU at OHSU only 7 hours after birth (I flew with her, 7 hours postpartum) In other words, parts of her bowels are looping through a hole in her diaphragm, which has restricted her ability to breathe in her left lung over half of what the normal capacity is. She is currently hooked up to a ventilator to help her breathing and has a tube down in her belly that suctions the air and bile out to keep from pushing air into that lung and restricting it even more. We are currently waiting for a few more tests to be ran and the surgeons and their team to come up with a plan, but she will be having surgery in the next 2-5 days. The doctors predict that after her surgery, she will have to stay in the NICU for a month if her recovery goes as planned. That being said, Michael and I will be staying in Portland for upwards a month and through the holidays with either of us working. After Hadley is home, I will have to stay home with her as her recovery with be extensive and hands on. This was all very unexpected and we have no idea what lies ahead. Anything is extremely appreciated and we are very thankful for all the love and prayers so far. We will update as we know more.
Love, Michael, Nicole, and Hadley❤️
