Jeannie Keeffe - From Hospitals to Homecoming!

Hello,
My name is Marie, and with Bob’s blessing, I am fundraising for my very good friend Jeannie (Bob's Wife).
Jennie took a fall that landed her in our local ER on September 4th, where she remained due to a severe infection on her lower left leg. It reaggravated her old injury from years ago that infected her leg with a flesh-eating virus. It took approximately 3 weeks until there was a bed available at Stanford Medical Center that she was able to transfer to. At Stanford, she continued her treatment for the infection and they finally gave her a diagnosis of Pyoderna Gangrenous which explains why she has gotten all these serious, life-threatening infections.
After 3 to 4 weeks at Stanford, she was transferred to a facility called Cypress Ridge in Monterey, where most of her in-patient care is at. There she shares a room with another patient and spends most of her day confined to this room with the exception of the time she goes to PT. Jeannie being Jeannie, is grateful for a room on the top of a hill and a big window view.
Since her initial fall in September, she has had 3 additional falls while at Cypress Ridge. Unfortunately, each fall is a setback to her progress, and until she can independently maneuver from sitting to standing and back to sitting again and use a walker without a fall, she could not be discharged from care. She also contracted Covid, an additional setback, for a short time and was isolated from the rest of the population at Cypress Ridge during that time with the other Covid positive patients. Additionally, Jeannie also has had a lifelong disorder called Blood Dyscrasia, in which her hemoglobin is consistently low and requires her to get regular blood transfusions.
Jeannie’s time at Cypress Ridge ends soon when she reaches 100 days of care and she has reached the maximum Medicare will cover. There is a hope that she can return home soon, but the plan in the meantime is for her to be admitted to Avila Senior Living in San Luis Obispo. We are thrilled that she will be closer to home, but hoping her stay in Senior Living is short as she and Bob are expected to pay for her stay completely out of pocket. The starting cost is $7,000/ month plus additional charges.
Her friends and family are asking for help with tasks large and small to help her and Bob adjust back to home life, but they are also in need of financial assistance too for the cost of her stay in Senior Living, and hospital visits past and future. We are starting by asking for a modest amount, but may adjust once she is admitted to Senior living and we know the actual cost.
Jeannie is an animal lover and hosts a summer camp every year where she provides animal husbandry education to local kids.
If you can help financially I know they will greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for reading.
