Hackney Half for Alzheimer's Society
On Sunday 18th May 2025 I will be running the Whizz Air Hackney Half Marathon for the Alzheimer's Society, with a mission to be fit and 40, as well as maintain the ability to chase the hell out of my two little sproglets.
As a nurse, dementia has always been a disease I have been passionate about but in more recent times a disease that has been at my door step in a way I never predicted.
Alzheimer's is heart-breaking, it storms in to peoples lives and does its best to cause as much disruption as possible.
It wont be stopped but that is not the point. It's about protecting those against the chaos it wreaks, help prepare those who are subject to the turmoil and offer refuge to those who fall victim to the devastation.
The Alzheimer’s Society persistently works towards a world where dementia no longer shatters lives. It gives help to those living with dementia today, and provides hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be.
One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. This is tragic, focus on this disease is paramount to allow for people to live their lives how they deserve and how we would want to live ours.
God, I hope my legs hold out...!
