Habitat's 30 for 30 Truck Fund
Donation protected
Habitat for Humanity of McLean County has been building homes and building hope in Central Illinois for 30 years. HFHMC is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global non-profit housing organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. 2015 marks the 30th anniversary for Habitat for Humainty of McLean County, and we need your help to continue improving our community.
Habitat for Humanity's Bloomington ReStore has been a stable part of the community for 5 years. The ReStore collects donated items from individuals and businesses in the area, and sells those items at a discounted price. Donors receive a deduction on their taxes, less materials end up in landfills, and shoppers on a budget find great deals. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of McLean County.
In order to make the donation process easy and convenient, the ReStore offers free pickup of items. While our trucks have served us well over the years, they have certainly seen better days. We have already gone through several used trucks, and we are currently spending several hundred dollars per month to maintain the trucks we have. Rather than continuing to put money into trucks that are deteriorating, we will actually save money by purchasing a new truck with a warranty that covers maintenance.
And that's where you come in! In honor of HFHMC's 30th anniversary, we are trying to raise $30,000 to cover the cost for a new truck. This truck will allow us to serve more donors and will keep us from having to reschedule pickups due to truck maintenance issues. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, and each time you see our truck out in the community, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you helped us as we help eliminate poverty housing.
