Hey everyone,
My name is Christina (aka @pickleballonice) and I’m starting this fundraiser for two of the kindest and most genuine people I know, Jamie and Prycen Haas from Honolulu, Hawaii.
Last weekend, while the family was out, they received the devastating call that their home was on fire. They rushed back to find significant damage to their house and many of their belongings. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the family is now facing the challenges and expenses that come with being displaced from their home while still responsible for continuing to pay rent.
Jamie and Prycen are loving parents to their three beautiful kids - Shado (7), Legend (5), and Summit (3). Since the fire, the children have been trying to understand why they can’t go back to their home, their bedrooms, their toys, and the place that has always felt safe and familiar. For kids so young, it’s been confusing and emotional, and heartbreaking for Jamie and Prycen as they try to comfort them and keep life feeling as normal as possible. With three young children, the uncertainty and unexpected costs have added an enormous amount of stress during an already difficult time. They are temporarily staying with family while they figure out their next steps. The timeline is still unknown but they are expected to be displaced for many months with their costs only rising.
Many people in the pickleball community know Jamie and Prycen as two of the top players in Hawai‘i who compete professionally around the world. But beyond their talent on the court, they are also deeply respected for the good-hearted people they are. Every time I visit Hawaii they always make the time to host, help, and make me feel welcome. They are the kind of people who give their time, their energy, and their home to help those around them. They are just that kind of people. They are always giving whatever they have.
Jamie was also my women’s doubles partner at the Honolulu Open in April 2025. We have shared many great moments on court together and if you’ve met her or watched her play, you know she is one of the happiest, and genuine people you’ll meet on or off the court.
Jamie and Prycen are always there for others and their home has always been a place where friends and family feel welcomed and cared for. Now, during this incredibly challenging moment, their family could really use that same support. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Jamie, Prycen, and their three children cover temporary housing, living expenses, essentials for the kids, and the many unexpected expenses that come with suddenly losing your home.
Thank you for supporting the Haas ‘Ohana and helping their family find stability again during such a difficult time.
