Honor a Veteran - Michael Hightower
Donation protected
My father, Michael D. Hightower aka "Sarge" passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the age of 61. He served nearly 10 years in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a victim of the Camp Lejeune Catastrophe - one of the worst water contamination cases in history. Between 1952 - 1987 men, women, and children living at Camp Lejeune drank and bathed in water laced with toxic chemicals. The devastation of this tragedy is still being experienced today. These victims are Marines and their families, including myself. I was born on Camp Lejune, was exposed to these chemicals and was diagnosed with kidney cancer earlier this year. These Marines and their families dedicated themselves to this country and are now losing their lives to cancer and various other life-threatening health issues. My father succumbed to the cancer that riddled his lungs, bladder, brain, adrenals, lymph nodes, and bones. He died while the Dept of VA was in the final stages of processing his claim for disability compensation - now he will never receive a dime for the negligent practices of the United States Military that has effected thousands of soldiers like him. This campaign is to raise money for my father's cremation and funeral as per his dying wishes. Your support will help recognize a veteran with a proper burial. His biggest fear was that his final wishes would not be carried out - please help me ensure his requests are honored. For more information about the Camp Lejeune Water Contamination -
