My name is Izzy Wilson, and I am the youngest of six children in the Wilson family. In my immediate family within the last 15 months, my dad, Steve Wilson, has been responsible for over $183,000 in uncovered treatments, surgeries, mental health care, and related expenses. These expenses have been not only for himself but for other immediate family members struggling with issues from mental illness.
I have been in and out of treatment for the past year for an eating disorder and I am soon enrolling into a residential program.
All of these expenditures have not been covered by his insurance and have placed a significant financial burden on the family.
In addition, from 2003-2014 he was responsible for more bills for my mother's
uncovered insurance before her untimely death in 2014.
Steve was born and raised in Nashville and has been involved in the Nashville
Catholic Diocese community for over 35 years. He has served as President of St Mathew parish council, President of the Father Ryan Alumni Association, and President of the St Henry school board. Along with various other boards and committees in Middle Tennessee. He also created the Holy Family Retreat for children and their families suffering from severe and terminal illness the majority of which came from St. Jude Hospital in Memphis.
He created "Maters Matter"- a summer time vegetable stand benefiting various charities. He currently raises money and awareness for individuals and their families who suffer from mental illness, on his daily rosary website “farmersrosary.com".
My dad took care of his six children and my mom ( they were married for 32 years ) while she battled her mental illness.
My dad has "paid it forward" all of his life not only to his family but to his community as well. In this spirit and following his example, I am asking for your help.
