Seth's Rowing Fee

Greetings,
My name is Rhonda Raines and I am campaigning for my oldest son, Seth. Seth is 17 years old and a member of the Wilmington Youth Rowing Association (WYRA) Competetive Crew. He is the 6th seat, also known as the power house.
Seth was diagnosed with ADHD at a very young age and he has struggled most of his life to fit in and be accepted. He always wanted to play sports and has tried many. He tried baseball, basketball and soccer. And then, he discovered rowing. What a blessing it has been to watch him grow and find his place in the world of athletics.
There have been many challenges, as you may imagine. But, I believe that Jesus is Lord! And He uses all things for our benefit. I am of African American ancestry and knew nothing of rowing...NOTHING! One day I was in the principal's office because Seth was in trouble, again. He gave me information about WYRA and suggested that we give it a try. I know, now, that it was the hand of God. He uses everything for our benefit; trouble in school, minority lineage, urban communities, financial challenges and even ADHD!
Here's the thing: Seth is very good at rowing! And he loves it! He says it gives him peace and, I know he feels the importance and sense of belonging that he desires. Seth is more confident and shows perserverance, self-discipline and pride in his accomplishments. He is an integral part if the team. The 6th seat reqires the most proficient and strongest rowers. The entire team recognizes his participation is vital. They operate like a well-oiled machine and would be affected if he does not return. The coaches call him a "superstar" and share that he is a hard worker, respectful and has a great attitude! I could not be more proud of my son!
For 3 years, Seth has been able to participate on the team because the fee was nominal and manageable. This year, Seth is being reqired to pay the full amount. We must make a decision to continue. The deciding factor, of course, is financial. At this time, as we do
not have enough money.
The Ragattas (races) are scheduled to begin in April. We need about $2000 for travel expenses and other related fees. Please help Seth to continue in this sport. It means the world the world to him! I believe this is part of his destiny and he is well on his way to becoming a productive member of society.
