This campaign was started to help our family with the many medical and travel expenses that we are now facing.
Erik Pappas is only 34 years old. He is an amazing husband and a wonderful father to our three children - Maddison is 14, Hunter is 11 and Ava is 7.
Erik began having problems with balance, severe dizziness, left-sided weakness and headaches. Tests showed that Erik has multiple masses on his cerebellum. He was scheduled for a brain biopsy at the Cleveland Clinic on November 11, which revealed brain cancer, or more specifically, Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Due to the location of the tumors, surgically removing them isn't a possibility. It would do more harm than good. Our plan for now is to fight like hell with radiation and chemotherapy. Erik will receive radiation therapy treatments in Cleveland, and they will take place five days a week for six weeks. This is going to make it impossible for Erik to continue working.
We desperately need your help. On top of the mounting medical bills, Erik now needs to travel to Cleveland five days a week for treatment. While we count ourselves extremely lucky that we are within driving distance of one of the best hospitals in the US, it is a three-hour drive roundtrip. The cost of gas, the parking fees, tolls and the insurance copays are all adding up at a frightening pace. It is becoming very overwhelming, very quickly.
We're not naive. We know that there are many families in similar situations who need help just as badly as we do. We also know that there are so many other causes that your donation could be given to. For that reason, and so many others, we would be forever grateful if you chose to help our family.
