Please Help Us Save Bowie
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. We can’t bear to lose our sweet boy so soon.
Our dog Bowie is really sick, and we’re running out of options. He’s only 7 years old and has been light of our life, and every moment spent with him means the world to us. He has the kindest heart, the softest eyes, and the silliest personality you’ll ever meet. He’s the heart of our family and our best friend. We’ve grown up together, and he’s always been there to cheer us up. Now he needs our help, but we can’t afford to give him what he needs most.
Bowie recently started showing terrifying signs out of nowhere: he’s been losing his balance, shaking, drooling constantly, and the left side of his face has started to droop, and become paralyzed, he can’t even blink his left eye. Half of his little smile is gone. The vet suspects something neurological — possibly idiopathic facial paralysis, but the truth is: we don’t know, because we can’t afford to find out.
The vet said he needs an MRI or CT scan to diagnose what’s going on, and that alone is upwards of $600–$1,000+. If it ends up being something serious, the cost of surgery or treatment could climb to $10,000 or more. That kind of money just isn’t something we have. We’ve already spent over $500 just for exams and sedation so they could look deeper into his ears, but beyond this, we’re stuck.
We’re absolutely devastated. Bowie is a brave boy, still wagging his tail through it all, still cuddling up with us at night. He has so much life to live and love to give and faces to lick. But it’s taking a toll on him physically to do normal things he used to love, like playing and running with the energy he has little left of. He still has a chance to go back to his old happy self, but without help, we may never know what’s really wrong. And if it’s something treatable, we may be forced to let him go simply because we can’t afford to save him.
If you’re able to help, even the smallest amount could make the biggest difference. Every share, every kind word, every dollar — it all means more than I can say. Please help us give Bowie a fighting chance to live a happier longer life that he deserves.
Thank you for reading. From the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
