Rosa's Medical Fund!!!!

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for taking time to visit this page! We are fundraising to help support our co-worker, friend and brother: Daniel Amador. Please read on to learn more about Daniel’s story and how we have an enormous opportunity to help out one of our friends in a real and impactful way.

Daniel’s mother, Rosa Maria Alvarez, has been battling an aggressive form of cancer since December 2014 (the type is still yet to be determined). We are reaching out in the hopes that we can rally around Daniel, Rosa and the Amador family by raising enough funds to alleviate some of the financial burden caused by medical expenses.

Daniel’s mother Rosa resides in Queretaro, Mexico. Long story short, healthcare in Mexico is expensive, limited and good doctors are unfortunately hard to come by. In December of 2014, a tumor was found in Rosa’s abdomen. Surgery was performed to remove the tumor, but then, in December 2016, much to the family’s dismay a second malignant tumor was found in the same place. Rosa underwent surgery again to remove the tumor in February of 2017, and unfortunately this is where things took a turn to the worst…

After Rosa’s surgery, Rosa’s wound opened up and doctors have been unable to close it, for reasons having to do with the healthcare system I can’t fully comprehend. Since February, Rosa has had a large, open wound in her abdomen and to make matters worse, she is not hospitalized. Daniel’s father has had to take the last month off of work to care for his wife and as a result, the family has been in an extremely difficult financial situation where their primary breadwinner is not working and all of their savings are going towards covering Rosa’s medical bills. Money is tight and Rosa still needs extensive medical attention and therapy for her cancer.

I didn’t understand the severity of this situation until recently, when Daniel opened up to me and some co-workers over lunch about his mother’s battle with cancer. How Daniel had been showing up to work as positively and effectively as he had been for the previous months was beyond me. I knew his mother had been ill, but I never realized the extent. I about lost it when Daniel told me he’d sent all but $1.80 (yes, one dollar and eighty cents) of his money to care for his mother. The amount of selflessness, sacrifice, and love he showed in these moments was downright humbling and a call to action for to me. I knew I couldn’t stand by and not do anything while an amazing young man who has navigated an incredible amount of adversity, all while maintaining an unbeatable attitude and an unwavering work ethic sat across from me each day.

So came the idea for a Go-Fund-Me page... with our friends and family’s passion, our sheer numbers, and our unwillingness to let our family/friends suffer alone, I know we can create a silver lining for Daniel and his family and make a huge impact.

So, please: donate what you can. The family can use the funds ASAP so that Rosa can continue the next steps of her treatment. Let’s not miss this opportunity to do something meaningful and lets come together to kick cancers a$$. #TeamRosa #FCancer
