My name is Dawn Murray, many of you know me as Jackson and Cody’s mom. On Sunday September 7th I adopted male 3 from Asher’s litter, who now goes by Bandit. I just fell in love with him and knew I needed to add him to my family.
After bringing him home, we introduced my dogs, Brooke, Jackson and Cody, we were outside for the immediate introduction before moving inside. When coming inside we stayed in the living room while my 3 cats slowly came around and saw Bandit for the first time.
Once everyone seemed comfortable, we let Bandit roam through my kitchen and slowly into other rooms in the upstairs of my home. Unfortunately, this is where things took a turn for the worse.
I exited my bathroom and noticed my cat Toby (who loves my dogs) get very fluffy and in that moment I realized I needed to keep an eye on him around the puppy. I went back to my living room where my husband was sitting and said the puppy went through the kitchen and down the hall towards one of my bedrooms, I had just missed him because of a divider wall in my living room and kitchen. Before I could even proceed down the hall towards the bedroom, I heard Bandit screaming.
my husband and I rushed down the hall and grabbed him, after examining him we realized that the cat had scratched his eye and not just a small scratch it was a gouge through his eye.
My husband and I grabbed our keys and wallets and rushed him to the emergency vet where we were told he would need surgery to either repair or take his eye.
I was given the choice and I choose to see if they could repair his eye, this was the more expensive option, but I had to give him the chance to see again and do right by him.
He had surgery yesterday September 8th at 6:30pm. The surgeon was able to repair his cornea and suture his eye back together. We won’t know for a while if he will be able to see again.
After going from one emergency vet to the other, and his surgery, I am up to 9,000 dollars. I am beyond devastated and riddled with guilt. I never in a million years would have expected this to happen and I now have to live with the fact that this horrific accident happened in my house under my supervision. It happened so fast and I will beat myself up for this every day.
I am doing this Go Fund me to help with some of this unexpected cost, if you can give even $10, I would be so grateful.
He has a lot of eye drops and meds that I will have to give him over the course of the next 3-4 weeks along with frequent visits to the Scarborough emergency vet, to check his eye and make sure it’s healing properly.
I will keep everyone posted on Bandits journey of healing and I will give him the best care possible. I was told he had a 50/50 chance of saving his eye, I’m very thankful to the surgeon who was able to repair his eye.
Bandit has a long road ahead of him. We all do. Thank you for reading, even if you can’t donate, I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we are not fully out of the woods yet.
Susan has approved this Go Fundme and for me to share it with all of you.
Much love, The Murray’s
