hi guys, as most of you know my mom got Covid at the end of December. She entered the hospital on December 31st with Covid pneumonia and while there and within 3 weeks she was put on a ventilator for 2 weeks. At that point the doctors told me to “prepare” myself for the worst because she wasn’t getting any better. At the end of those 2 weeks, she made a turn for the better and the doctors recommended doing a tracheostomy to hopefully better her chances or recovery. Her lungs had suffered significant damages, so she was looking at long recovery. The doctor gave me a 50/50 chance after this procedure, and I had to give her the best chance possible.

After the tracheostomy was performed, she was moved to a Long Term hospital to recover. She was stable for most of her 2 months stay with a short stint in the ICU. She was still hooked to vent support. They were hoping that she would fully recover while at this facility and go home. However, that wasn’t the case. The time frame allowed to be in this facility was up and she was moved to another long term rehab facility. This is where she resides now. She remains stable but still there hasn’t been any progress towards recovery. She’s alert most of the time but not able to talk or move her body or get out of bed. She still needs vent support to help her breathe. She will probably reside her for the remainder of her life.

Although some of the expenses are covered, the majority are not. My mom always thought about everyone else but herself. She always helped my family in Guatemala since she left there at the ripe age of 25 by sending money every month without fail.

I am her only child and unfortunately, I am not able to cover the extra expenses on my own. This is where I need your financial help. Every dollar helps. If you cannot help at this time, I ask that you send a prayer, good vibes or any positive wave her way.
