My name is Amberlyn, and I’m helping my close friends, the Dickson family, during a heartbreaking time. Their son, Aidan, is facing a devastating medical emergency, and they are now navigating emotional and financial burdens no family should ever have to face.

Dear friends, family, and community,

It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that I share our family’s story. I never imagined I would be writing this, but I want you to hear it directly from me.

My son Aidan Dickson, a 2018 graduate of FDMS, has faced some significant struggles in recent years. On Saturday, November 1st, Aidan made the heartbreaking decision to take his own life. He was discovered by his older brother, and together we performed CPR until the ambulance arrived. A faint pulse was regained, and Aidan was rushed to the ICU. Unfortunately, doctors confirmed severe brain damage, and he is currently on life support.

We’re sharing this story not only to dispel rumors that may have been circulating but to remind others — especially young people — that there is no shame in struggling and no shame in seeking help. Sadly, it was too late for our son, but if sharing our story can help even one person, we must try.

In addition to the emotional toll this has taken on our family, we are now facing unexpected financial burdens. The insurance company has denied coverage for Aidan’s medical expenses, which means we are responsible for all hospital and ICU bills, as well as future costs related to his care. We’re also facing funeral expenses during this incredibly difficult time.

We’ve set up this GoFundMe to help our family cover these overwhelming expenses and honor Aidan’s memory. Any contributions — no matter the size — will help us as we navigate these painful days ahead.
