Hello, I'm Teresa Davis a coworker and friend of Blain Pennington. I've worked with Blain for several years. She is a dedicated wife and mother of three girls, including a set of twins (10,10,8). The past year has not been kind to the Pennington family. Late 2022, one of her daughters became suddenly ill and was hospitalized to discover a new diagnoses of Juvenile Onset Diabetes. A roller coaster ride ensued to get that disease under control and her daughter regulated to live a healthy life. The expenses mounted and continue to grow to control the life-long autoimmune disease.

Suddenly, her husband Scott (46), began experiencing changes in his neurological condition, finally after multiple doctor visits and test he was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, an incurable autoimmune disease rarely seen in young men, hence the struggle for proper diagnosis. Costly testing and multiple failed treatment trials to find medications that would slow the progression of the disease added to rising medical bills. Scott was struggling to maintain his work schedule and Blain was picking up extra work to support her family while in the midst of a local small business startup.

Due to failed medical treatment attempts in late August, the disease progressed to full blown crisis landing Scott in the ICU on a ventilator because he had become to weak to adequately maintain his own breathing. He remains hospitalized on the ventilator in intensive care while his team of doctors are working diligently to find a drug to help Scott regain his live back. Most of these drugs are experimental and the cost is 20k for one month of treatment and sadly not covered by insurance. Lost wages and suffocating medical expenses that seem impossible to meet are adding to the uncertainty of the future for this family.

They need help to bring their daddy home. Scott will live with this disease for the rest of his life and will require medication and intensive rehab to continually fight Myasthenia Gravis.
