Last week our family learned that Suzy was sick. For the past few month she has been in and out of doctors. They said “it’s a sinus infection, it’s allergies” after 2 doctor visits and 2 ER visits she was finally given a scope to her esophagus. Upon retaining the results from that scope we learned that she was suffering from an aggressive form of esophageal cancer. This cancer is located just above her aorta which makes surgery impossible unless it shrinks significantly. We also learned that it had metastasized to several lymph nodes, her skin, and a really large area in her femur. There are other small lesions notes throughout but these are the most concerning. Due to the nature of this cancer, and the placement in her leg, the first step is putting a rod into her leg to act as a support bar to reduce the high risk she has of breaking her leg. 
Today she will under go that surgery. Next week will she will begin several weeks of radiation, first on her esophagus and then once her leg has healed enough they’ll begin on her leg as well. After radiation she will be re-evaluated so that chemo can begin. We have been told this is incurable, and only palliative treatment is an option.  

Were in the beginning. Elaine has been by her side as soon as she got the news. Thomas has too, with the exception of his naval career and the duty that involves which has been exoeciakku difficult. Samantha has been back and forth to offer as much assistance as possible while trying to maintain a home & kids. There will be a lot of medical  bills, travel bills and costs that add up that are unforeseen at this time. We most ask for prayer. Prayer for the doctors & surgeons as they work through to help her. Prayer for Suzy to stay strong and fight as hard and as long as she can. Prayers for Thomas because there is a deployment on the horizon and although we tried to  get some time he cannot miss it. Prayers for Elaine as she goes through the difficulties of the surrounding events and going back and forth from Illinois to Virginia. Prayers for Samantha (me) as she buys a house to move into to help give the best of care to Suzy. We need prayers to fund a home fast, and one within our budget too. 
Please pray for our family. We need the Lord. God is faithful and God will see us through no matter what. I firmly believe that His will will be carried out and he will comfort us with any outcome. But please hold us dear to your hearts. I’ll update as things change. ❤️ #suzystrong
