Fundraiser for Ardee Hospice

My daughter, Maya and I are running Almac Belfast 10k on 18th June to fundraise for Ardee Hospice. We are so grateful for the support I received during my cancer treatment and now we would like to pay it forward.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my life was thrown into disarray. Not only did I have a life threatening illness, I had surgery within days that left me unable to drive and I had several medical appointments per week in Ardee, Drogheda and Dublin.

My husband, Sarj and I discussed how he would drive me to all my appointments and manage to continue working and tend to our 3 children. The pressure we felt was immense but his colleague told him to call Ardee Hospice and let them know that we needed help.

I gave them a call and they immediately put my mind at ease. They could offer me taxis to all my appointments which meant that I didn't need a driver, a budget for diesel and parking, and Sarj didn't need to take time off work.

This support made my cancer journey so much easier. My taxi drivers were lovely and knowing that they would get me to all my appointments on time, hassle-free was such a relief.
