Searching for some YogAngels to fund a special-needs yoga program at Ridge Ruxton School, a Baltimore County Public School for children aged 3-21 with intellectual and physical disabilities. Ridge Ruxton children spend a large part of their day strapped and positioned in orthopedic equipment that is important to their health but can limit their freedom and movement. Many children are medically involved. Many children are not mobile or have little control over their muscles and movements. Yoga gives them a chance to breathe free and stretch out on the mats. It gives them a break from their adapted equipment. It gives them a few moments to focus on the here and now with special assistance from their yoga teachers. Yoga gives them a dedicated time and place to practice great big belly laughs! Charm City Yoga created this Adapted Yoga Program three years ago for the school and has seen incredible progress in the students with their continued practice. Benefits include: reduced stress, increased ability to focus, and improved strength, flexibility and balance. This amazing program, initially funded by the Ridge Ruxton PTA, needs additional financial support to continue. A $150 donation provides four yoga classes for students. A $6,000 donation provides yoga classes for the whole school for the entire academic year. Give the gift of yoga and enrich the lives of our children in immeasurable ways.
