On Saturday 3rd May Westminster Community Primary School Teachers Take on Yorkshire Three Peaks to Fundraise for a Little Learners School Kitchen
Four dedicated primary school teachers Miss Dunn, Mrs Davenport, Miss Pierce and Mrs Middleton are lacing up their hiking boots and taking on the formidable Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise vital funds for a Little Learners Kitchen. Their mission….. To create a fully functional kitchen space where children can develop essential cooking skills, learn about nutrition, and gain independence through hands-on food preparation.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is no easy feat. Spanning approximately 24 miles, covering the three tallest peaks in Yorkshire—Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough—this gruelling hike tests endurance, strength, and determination and has to be completed in 12 hours!!! The team have been training for the challenge since October last year.
Westminster Community Primary School has long dreamed of having a dedicated kitchen space where children can engage in practical learning experiences. Currently, the school lacks adequate facilities to teach cooking, an important life skill. By raising funds through their challenge, the teachers hope to equip the school with a safe, modern kitchen where children can learn to prepare meals, understand healthy eating habits, and build confidence in the kitchen.
The team has set up a GoFundMe page to encourage donations from parents, friends, and the local community. Every penny raised will go towards building and equipping the kitchen, ensuring that all students, regardless of background, have the opportunity to learn important culinary skills.
Supporters can contribute by donating through the GoFundMe page. Encouraging messages and support for the teachers as they take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge will also go a long way in boosting morale.
With the determination of these four incredible teachers and the generosity of the community, the dream of a fully equipped school kitchen for Westminster Community Primary School is well within reach. Let’s help make it happen!
