Heather went in on Oct. 30th, 2024 for a scheduled outpatient ankle surgery, following a complicated ankle fracture over the previous summer.
While the surgery went without complications, during Heather’s standard time in post-op/ recovery, she remained unresponsive and unconscious. Heather was rapidly transferred to the ER, where her medical status was labeled as high acute and the trauma team began their evaluation and treatment in one of the trauma bays.
Heather had bouts of ventricular tachycardia, seizure like activity, continued unresponsiveness and soon went into respiratory failure. Heather was then intubated and admitted into the ICU for continued monitoring and treatment.
While the exact “cause” of Heather’s condition and response to the initial anesthesia may remain unsolved, they did diagnose her with Serotonin Syndrome, Acute Respiratory Failure, Iron Insufficiency Anemia, Acute hypokalemia, and Acute Hypomagnesium.
Heather is a single mom (daughter pictured in cover-photo) as well as runs her own business/ practice as a Clinical Trauma Therapist (Self-Restored Counseling, LLC). Heather spent nearly 2 weeks in the ICU and, during that time, was unable to bring in any income.
While this GoFundMe account was inspired by friends and family- it, was created by Heather’s teenage daughter, Selah, to not only help with the financial loss during Heather‘s stay in the hospital and continued recovery time, but to assist in any anticipated uncovered medical expenses etc.
Please consider donating to help this family continue to heal physically, emotionally and financially.
