My family needs your help.

Last July 2020, my eldest sister, Mitch, was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease and on the verge of being on dialysis anytime soon. She needs a kidney transplant. It was a shocking news in our family. She is the most loving, helpful and generous sister for us, and yet she is in need of a help that it’s hard to ask to anyone-a kidney donor. It’s been a struggle every day, since then.

And then another challenging situation happened in September, my mother in the Philippines had difficulty breathing and she had to be admitted in the hospital. She had pleural effusion and other complications due to her having diabetes and hypertension. She had to stay in the hospital for more than two weeks, surgeries after surgeries and lab tests after lab tests. We almost lost her. Fortunately, my mom was so strong to endure everything. Praise God, she got cured and is now being monitored and on lifetime maintenance for diabetes and hypertension. However, and with the pandemic situation, you couldn’t imagine the insurmountable hospital bills we had to pay. These really depleted our savings and we’re not going to lie, we still have debts that we need to pay. Thankfully, we have family and friends who helped us financially to augment those hospital bills. My mother, Nida, is on her way to her complete recovery, there are still medical bills we need to pay and that’s okay, as long as she will live and be healthy again, my family will work it out.

Every day is a blessing and we choose to be positive. To be thankful for every single day we can still be with our mother, and our family.

But 2020 is not yet done. Another tragedy shook our family. My father had a brain stroke yesterday, paralyzed his body and due to lack of oxygen, he was put on a ventilator. He suffered from brain hemorrhage and has internal abdomen bleeding. He also has pneumonia and diabetic, which complicates more his health condition.  Thankfully he was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Unconscious but there’s still hope. We're waiting and praying for him to wake up. But that doesn’t end there. We need to face other unforeseeable hospital bills and with covid scare, additional expenses should be expected.

My sister and I have never seen our father since we moved here in Canada, it’s been so long and we’ve been missing him every single day. It’s heartbreaking to see him in this condition and we are still hoping that after this pandemic, we will reunite again. He still needs to see his grandchildren with me and my sisters. He survived two of his serious health conditions in the past and we believe he will surpass this again.

So we sincerely ask for your help. Any amount is appreciated and will truly help us relieve the strain of this another major financial burden. And if you cannot help financially, please lift a prayer for my father, Toto. More than anything else, your prayers are what we really need in these trying times.

Thank you so much.
