(new update from the vets further down)
I'm starting this little fundraiser to help pay for Archies vet treatment. He unfortunately got himself in a scrape yesterday (we have 3 theories on what happened) and had to go to the emergency vet and is currently being assessed in our own vet.
Archie is a cheeky and spicy 9 month old ginger kitty. He is well and truly loved by all who meet him, maybe with exception of the birds he has now discovered live in the tree.
Our theories for how he hurt himself go from falling out the above tree onto the fence below, being hit car a car or being kicked in the face.
The vet seems to think the latter is more likely, which is just devastating.
I have not uploaded a picture of his injuries as it is really upsetting. We are still waiting to see whether he will be able to keep his left eye as it appears badly damaged and whether his jaw is broken. He is breathing well amd doesnt appear to be injured elsewhere but has lots and lots of swelling over his face.
I am hoping to raise just enough to help me pay his vet bill which at the moment stands at a little over £1000 and no more.
If you are unable to contribute then please just send up some healing prayers and keep your fingers crossed we get some good news soon.
If you have read this far, thank you so much.
Update - 30/4/25 @ 2000 hrs
Archie is home from the vet after being there all day for assessment. He was put off for a snooze to properly clean and evaluate his injuries and have some xrays taken. He's had lots of the good drugs going by how disorientated he is, and staring off into space the only thing he complained about when he got home was the little bandage he had on his paw after his cannula was removed. The plan going forward is for him to recover at home with plenty of rest and painkillers. He hasnt really eaten anything since his accident so he needs to start eating and drinking. I've got him some soft food since his mouth is sore. He goes back to see vet Kyle at the end of next week for a check up, unless I'm concerned and feel he needs to be seen sooner.
So, injuries, his eye was not ruptured thank goodness, there is no sign of any skull, zygomatic or jaw fractures - phew! His teeth appear to all be intact. What he does have however is a wound from an impalement! Yup!!!! When the vet was assessing him he found what felt like a little bump on his upper gum. Looking further it was found to be a scab which once cleaned was found to be a little hole which went all the way through to the wound on his chin!!!!! He is still really swollen around the face too. He also has some crepitus due to air getting into the tissues when he was hirt, it feels a bit like bubbles popping inside his skin, it should go away as he heals.
So now we have all this information it would appear that actually he must have fallen onto something. From the injury we are assuming it was from the tree. I've had a look round the garden at possible spots he might have done it at but I just dont know for sure.
I think its safe to say that Archie has lost a few of gis 9 lives and is grounded for life. Ultimately has been sooooo lucky, it could have been much worse.
Thank you so much to those who have donated. I dont really feel that saying thank you is enough, I am completely overwhelmed by your generosity, I cant even begin to tell you all how much I appreciate being able to give Archie this chance to recover. He's my wee baby boy
