New Heart and Lungs for Brian
Donation protected
Hi to everyone! We’re setting up this GoFundMe for my good buddy, Brian Peachey and Shelley, his wife, to help with their current living expenses and medical bills.
This is his/their story:
Brian was born with an extremely complex heart and lung condition in which his heart pumps completely backwards of a regular heart, and his lungs also do not function normally. This has limited his endurance ability throughout his whole life, but (as anyone who knows him can tell you) has never limited his spirit and enthusiasm!
Throughout his life, Brian has had 4 heart surgeries to try and remedy his condition and to extend the life of his heart, and he also had a pacemaker put it in when he was still quite young.
Since the fall of 2023, he has been hospitalized 3 different times for congestive heart failure. Due to that many hospitalizations in such a short time, his doctors referred them to Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN to investigate the possibility of a heart transplant. They arrived at Vanderbilt on the 25th of March to begin testing to see if they could perform a transplant on someone with a heart condition like Brian’s. During the stress test, he went into Cardiac Arrest. Thankfully, they were in the right place when it happened, and the specialists were able to do CPR and shock his heart back to get it going again. God has blessed Shelley, and all of us, that we still have Brian!
The Cardiac Arrest showed the doctors how very weak Brian’s heart actually was! He spent a few days in ICU recovering from that experience. After much continued evaluation, due to the complexity of his heart and lung situation, the surgeons concluded that Brian needs a heart AND lung transplant to minimize the risk in surgery.
Brian will be in the hospital until after the transplant surgery takes place, and they will need to stay nearby in Nashville after surgery for the recovery period, along with caregivers. Their length of stay in the locality will be several months.
This leads us to the reason for this fundraising! Their expenses include rental money for their month’s long lodging in Nashville, monthly expenses to keep their home in Gentry up and running, and obviously, the large amount of medical expenses that have, and will be, incurred during their stay there. This is looking like it will be a substantial amount per month, and, again, obviously, neither Brian nor Shelley are able to work during this time so they will need any and all help with expenses that you and I can give them!
We want to thank you on behalf of Brian and Shelley and their family (we’re going to squeeze ourselves into that by saying extended family as well!) for any amount you are willing and able to give, as God leads!
