Hi, my name is Erica, and I am Josiah’s mom. I am creating this GoFundMe to help my fiancée and me with funds to assist with medical bills and regular everyday bills.

Our son, Josiah, was born with macrocephaly and a severe case of hydrocephalus. He had a shunt placed at 5 days old, which failed. Another surgery was done a month later to place the shunt in another area, which also got infected, and another surgery was performed. As of August, we are now on our fourth brain surgery/shunt placement and revision.

Josiah was rushed to the hospital on Saturday, 08/23/25, with a pressure sore on the back of his head where his shunt was placed. He had necrotic skin in that area and had emergency surgery to remove his shunt, and an external drain was placed in the right side of his head, along with debridement of the infected/necrotic skin. The surgeons were able to save the skin in that area, thank God! He has had the shunt placed back in the left side of his brain, and the external drain was removed on 09/03.

We just recently found out he has a cyst on his L3-L4 level of his spine and a tethered spinal cord, which is going to require another surgery. We are just asking for prayers. If you cannot donate, we understand times are tough, and most can’t donate. Anything will help us. Due to all of Josiah’s medical complications, including his epilepsy, I haven’t worked since March when he was born, and living on one income is extremely tough nowadays.
