Help Fund the Epicenter Exhibition
Donation protected
Hello! I am asking for help to fund a collaborative multimedia exhibition called "Epicenter Revolutions: Self-Documenting Internal Transformations," happening from August 1st to August 9th at Eastern Bloc in Montreal. I have applied twice for Canada Council grants, but both were unsuccessful. All the artists have agreed to work for free, and I will be responsible for the gallery rental, material costs, and international shipping. There is an outline of the budget for the requested amount, a link to the CCA grant, and the CCA budget at the end of the writing if you want to look at what was submitted.
This exhibition continues a lineage of gender-expansive performance practices initiated in 2021. It features twenty-five artists from across Canada, the US, Mexico, and Europe. The exhibition builds upon the work of eight previous cohorts of gender-diverse artists, each of whom has engaged in deep explorations of internal transformation through self-authored durational performance.
This exhibition marks a pivotal evolution in the project: a shift from ephemeral performance to tangible manifestation. Each artist has accepted the invitation to self-document their ongoing internal transformations, translating personal sensory and emotional experiences into externalized forms. The resulting works—spanning sound, drawing, costume, video, installation, and participatory formats—invite audiences into intimate encounters with genderqueer embodiment as it is lived, felt, and continually reshaped.
Through these varied artistic languages, Epicenter Revolutions makes visible the often-invisible processes of becoming that exist at the heart of gender-diverse identity. The exhibition foregrounds vulnerability, resilience, and complexity, offering a space not only for witnessing but for connection. By giving form to internal states, the artists create a shared terrain where empathy and solidarity can emerge—where community is not only represented but actively constituted.
Participating artists include Aquarius Funkk, Babcia, Damaris Baker, Eish Van Wieren, Enok Ripley, Eva Gonzales-Ruskiewicz, Fanny Aboulker, Federico Tello, Freddie Wulf, Genesis Victoria, Grey Piitaapan Muldoon, Holly Timpener, Kai Milačić, Klarens Matusiak, Klaus Światowy, Lechedevirgen, Lum Alvarez, Lulu, Marek Tomasz Jezior, Michal Zawisza, Mycelium, Pipeq Szczęsnowicz, joey eddy, Sheri Osden Nault, and Vero Uršnik.
Together, we offer not a fixed narrative, but a living archive of queer metamorphosis
A catalogue will be created following the exhibition. All donors will be thanked in the catalogue and will receive a free copy!
