Help with Loki’s Medical Expenses

I am making this gofundme for my mom- who would frankly probably kill me if she knew I was doing this. Her cat, Loki, who is only four years old is currently fighting for his life and we are trying to get answers. While usually a playful, chunky, energetic boy, he’s been lethargic, losing weight rapidly, and has fluid in his stomach. After some testing his reticulocyte count is showing that he isn’t producing red blood cells and the steroids don’t seem to be helping much. My mom is currently taking him to Michigan State’s emergency vet to hopefully find some answers and a sense of hope. My mom will always do whatever she can for her beloved pets and family but this will be no small amount. She has given much of her time, energy, money, and love to animal rescues throughout my whole life. I want to reach out to those in the community and ask for this good fortune to be returned to her for Loki. Our pets are our family and we can’t give up. Whatever you can donate- whether monetary, a share, or a prayer, please do. Thank you ❤️

Update from my mom:
“ok i have a probable diagnosis
It is FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) which is caused from a mutated coronavirus
Unfortunately, my Vet told me that there is no test or treatment for it so if that’s what he had, he was just going to die
She put him on steroids in case it was an autoimmune problem, which was the other possibility
But when that didn’t work after a couple of days, I wanted to get a second opinion
So I took him to MSU emergency
Thank God I did because it turns out there is a test and a treatment ! It’s not cheap, but it’s very effective
Unfortunately, because of the delay, he now has lipidosis, and they can’t treat him until that is taken care of which is going to require hospitalization and feeding tubes and IVs, which is going to be extremely expensive
He just turned four and anyone that knows me knows that my pets are my babies so I’m gonna suck it up
But I am extremely angry with my Vet for not looking into it further ! She only had to make a phone call!
thank you to everyone for your contributions, well wishes, prayers, and good vibes! The treatment is long, but not too bad
He has to take medicine twice a day for about three months
And have an ultrasound every couple of weeks to make sure that the fluid is dissipating from his abdomen
But thank God, he will survive ! She said the treatment is very effective (it’s only been approved in the US recently).”
