I want to thank everyone who takes the time to read my story. You are the difference you can make in others lives.

My name is Megan Christine, and I understand how the effects of mental health can make people feel so alone in this world and that is where I come in. I have been working in the mental health field for over 8 years running group therapy, treatment for adolescents/adult care, and providing all the empathy I could give to every patient. Dealing with the heaviness of my own trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and self harm I admitted myself into mental health treatment to find help on December 24th, 2023. After about a month of treatment, I was finally starting to put myself together when I decided to go play Pickle Ball with some of the other clients. I ended up breaking my ankle in 3 places from slipping on water on the Pickle Ball court! I needed surgery, 6 screws, and 1 plate. My leg later got infected due to neglect from my treatment center. I had to wait almost four weeks longer to get surgery before the infection went away. (Message me if you want more details). Since then I've been physically and financially struggling to make ends meet. I do not have the funds to pay for physical therapy and I am unable to find work with such a disability. I really need physical therapy to be able to walk normal again and live a healthy life.

My story consists of mental health hospitals, childhood trauma, and resiliency. I never understood what asking for help could really do. In 2017 my dear mother Mary Christine Garrison took her own life. I have watched my mother time and time again dealing with, suicide attempts, hospital visits, and bipolar.

As hard as it was watching her suffer, I now understand what it's like feeling alone in the world for "no one" to understand. I have two loving younger siblings and stood loyal by their side with my father Leo Garrison. I will always try to figure out which direction will lead me towards health, safety, self love, and success. When pain, trauma, and anxiety became too much, I had to buckle down and get the help I needed. I admitted myself into a trauma and alcoholism treatment center just trying to save the little hope I had left.

I've been barely getting by paying my medical bills, especially after surgery. As you can imagine, going through mental health struggles and being physically handicapped can be expensive and hard work. With all of this going on, I have not been able to make a living to support my treatment for psychiatrist appointments, physical therapy, medication, and insurance bills. I really need help supporting myself during this time as I have nothing left and in no condition to work. Although it sounds bad, I have the mental strength and emotional support around me to get through this rough patch of my life.

I've changed my life for the better mentally. I am who I've always loved. I just really need help getting over this last barrier so I am not in physical pain for the rest of my life. I am not able to attend physical therapy yet due to lack of funds. If you have anything, I mean anything to spare it will be greatly appreciated. Please help me get back to making a difference in myself and in our mental health facilities. No matter what you may obtain reading a little of my story always remember, we don't have to struggle in silence.

If you or a loved one are struggling with mental health and need to talk to someone,
please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you! I wish you all the happiness on all of your journeys,
Megan Garrison
