Hi, my name is Luis Fuentes, and I’m reaching out for support during one of the toughest moments of my life.
Yesterday, my world turned upside down. I had a serious horse spill while riding at Zia Park, and the impact was so severe that I had to be flown from Hobbs, NM to El Paso, TX for emergency care. I suffered a broken femur, a punctured right lung, and four broken ribs. This morning, I underwent surgery to repair my femur, and now my recovery begins.
What makes this even harder is that I had just come back from a 10-month injury layoff. I worked every day to heal, rebuild my strength, and fight my way back. I finally returned to riding in September, excited and grateful to be doing what I love again. To be back in the hospital so soon after all that work… it’s heartbreaking.
Riding isn’t just my career—it’s my passion and the way I support myself. Being forced out again, right after returning, has been emotionally overwhelming. I know I’m facing another long road before I can ride or work again.
Asking for help is never easy for me, but right now I truly need it. Any support—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page—means more than I can say. It will help me stay focused on healing and keep me steady through this setback.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me, messaged me, and kept me in their thoughts. Your support lifts me up more than you know. I’m staying strong, and I’m determined to come back again—no matter how long it takes.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Luis Fuentes
